Is It A Find

Hello, My grandfather ran a corner store for about a decade in the 1940s. When clearing out his attic, we found this thick paper standing sign hidden in the old store's ledger. I believe it to be an advertisement for a soda. Can you tell me anything about it? I would like to display it without ruining it. Thank you, Beth, Troy N.H. Hello Beth, What a vibrant and attractive paper counter sign you have presented here. It most likely dates from the 1920s-30s. Being stored in the ledger away from light helped preserve its bright colors and crisp condition. It is a stunning advertisement with an attractive artistic image. In the advertising collectibles world, items featuring attractive women command a premium and are more sought after. I could see this sign retailing between $150-200 depending on its size and condition. Advertising signs, posters, tins and displays have remained some of the most popular collectibles for decades, with the rarest examples selling for over $100,000! It would be best to display it away from direct sunlight or bright lights, either in a picture frame with an acid-free mat or in a closed display. Thank you for sharing your wonderful find with us. I look forward to writing in about any others you may have.
