Keene Sentinel launches Best Life Fest

Designed to fill a gap in local programming, The Keene Sentinel's newest event offering focuses on supporting the 40+ community while living their best years. The Sentinel's first Best Life Fest takes place Saturday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Best Western in Keene. General admission is $10; $5 for those 62 or older; and free for active military with ID. "Our community, and the Sentinel, hosts events focused on a variety of age groups," Events Manager Allison Gibbons said. "Looking at what we already have, it seemed to us like the 40+ community tends to get overlooked. We wanted to make something specifically focused on them." Running throughout the event will be casino-style game tables starring Keene Sentinel staff members as dealers along with a bar and food by Tempesta's. Additionally, Monadnock Therapy Pets will bring therapy dogs for attendees to spend time with. Kicking off the line-up of activities will be a performance at 1 p.m. by A Troupe of Witches, which is based out of Marlow. The group is led by choreographer Dianne Eno and performs a restaged version of the viral German "Witches Dance" (inspired by the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut dance) set to the song "Schüttel deinen Speck" by Peter Fox. Britt & Olivia Line Dancing, based out of Rutland, Vermont will take over at 2 p.m. and lead those interested in a spirited dance. Slowing things down a bit, Pam Lane and Keisha Huntoon with The Savings Bank of Walpole — event sponsor — will lead a financial advising seminar at 3:15 p.m. focused on staying aware of fraud and scams. Visual artist Hannah Banana rounds out the line-up at 4 p.m. with a social paint. Banana will provide the required tools and supplies before guiding attendees through creating a piece of art. The focus will be on painting inspirational phrases. For more information, visit bit.ly/4BpdPOg.
