Is It A Find

Dan, This 1¾-inch bottle was purchased at a local tag sale last summer. It reads "Homestead Dairy." Is it some sort of miniature milk bottle? Does it have any value and how old is it? Sincerely, Marge Greetings Marge, Your miniature milk bottle is actually a cream bottle. It is similar to the plastic containers with cream you receive today with your coffee at an eatery or to go at a store, but back then they were made of glass. The small cream bottles would get returned to the dairy to be washed, sanitized and refilled. The Homestead Dairy was a local dairy and later became part of Page Homestead Dairy in Keene. Your cream bottle dates to around the 1940s. It is quite a scarce bottle and they are easy to collect due to their small size. In a retail setting, your bottle could sell for between $15 and $25. I appreciate you writing in with an interesting piece of local history.
