Is It A Find

Hello Dan, I picked up this record during my time overseas in the 1960s. I was given it along with other records from a friend I was stationed with. I have never listened to it, as it is not my style of music. I noticed you had records for sale in your shop and was curious if it had any value. Thank you, Mark Greetings Mark, Your record dates to the 1960s and is by Gu Lan. The title is Xin Jia Po De Gu Niang and was pressed on Star Swan records. Any pop or rock records from China at the time are extremely scarce and well sought after. I can find only one copy of this record and it is in a collection at the National Museum in Singapore. Often such rare records are collected and then repressed into compilations by major record companies. To a collector this record could bring upwards of $100. Some original foreign pressings from China, Japan and other countries of obscure rock, folk and jazz recordings of the time can bring up to thousands of dollars a record! What an oddity you have and thank you for sharing it with us. I find it amazing what can turn up in local collections.
