Peterborough Players to premiere comedy-thriller 'A Danger to Yourself and Others'

PETERBOROUGH — The Peterborough Players will open the world-premiere production of "A Danger to Yourself and Others," a new comedy-thriller by playwright Colette Mazunik, running from Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 12. Serving as the second production of the theater's 2026 summer season, the play is described as a fast-paced cross between "Ocean's 11" and "The Sting." The plot follows an everyday protagonist named Eddie who falls victim to identity theft, leading to a witty exploration of trust, romance, and deception involving con artists, marks, and inflatable turkeys. The production is directed by the Players' Artistic Director Brendon Fox. The cast features returning actors Rafael Untalan and Olivia Gilliatt alongside newcomers Avery Whitted, Susan Lynskey, Kashayna Johnson, and Talia Sulla. Behind the scenes, New Hampshire Theatre Award winner Steven C. Jones oversees set and lighting design, collaborating with resident properties designer Emily Allinson, costume designer Sierra Madison, and sound designer Ethan Foss. Cast selection was handled by Stephanie Klapper Casting. Several free public events are scheduled throughout the show's two-week run: Friday, July 3: Mazunik will speak at the Mariposa Museum's "First Friday" event at 5 p.m., followed by a pre-show presentation at the theater at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5: Dr. Kathryn Moncrief will moderate a post-matinee talkback with the playwright, director, and cast. Friday, July 10: A post-performance cabaret will be held at the theater. Saturday, July 11: A bonus post-show talkback session will follow the evening performance.
