Is It A Find?

Hi Dan, I have this small glass vase with hearts on it. It is signed on the bottom and given my poor eyesight; I can't quite make it out. I had a friend visit many years ago and said that it might be valuable and thought that I should have it checked out. It was given to me by an elderly neighbor in the 1960's who was moving to another state. So do I have a real treasure? Sincerely, Margret, Keene Greetings Margret, Your lovely vase was made by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933). He was the founder to store and company today known as Tiffany's. Your art glass vase sports the heart and vine pattern. It was made in the early 1900s. Its iridescent vibrant colors come from Tiffany's 1894 patent for Favrile glass. In this patented process the iridescent minerals would be imbedded into the glass in the making versus being flashed on top after production. This allowed for very warm and stunning pink and gold colors. I have to say that your friend does have a good eye because in a retail setting this vase could bring upwards of $800 if it is in perfect condition. It would be best to only clean it with a dry soft rag and to keep it out of direct sunlight. That was a very kind gift that your neighbor had given you and I appreciate you taking the time to write in.
