Join Art Jam! at MAXT Makerspace, 50 Jaffrey Rd. Suite 12, Peterborough, on Friday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. MAXT staff and Hannah Banana will host a free night of community art making. A host of art materials will be available to share and participants are also encouraged to bring their own. A night of free expression for all ages. Jaffrey Civic Center's annual Stories to Share series continues on Friday, Feb. 6, with Dr. Vache Hambardzumyan, discussing Current State-of-the-Art of Orthopedic and Spine Surgery, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St., Jaffrey. A reception will follow. The discussion is free to attend but reservations should be made online at www.jaffreyciviccenter.com/stories/. The 23rd Keene Ice & Snow Festival on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Keene will host 15 professional ice carvers alongside many free, family events and activities, including a train ride, interactive nature exhibits, pony rides, circus acts, a community ice project and more. The event is free to attend and the sculptures will remain on display for viewing. The Hinsdale High School Future Business Leaders of America Club will host their 2nd Annual Ice Fishing Derby at the Hinsdale Boat Launch on Saturday, Feb. 7, on Prospect St. in Hinsdale. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. and fishing will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $20 per person and cash prizes will be awarded for Heaviest Pike, Pickeral or Walleye ($250 reward) and Heaviest yellow Perch, White Perch or Black Crappie ($75 reward). Brattleboro Museum & Art Center's annual Lunar New Year Festival and Potluck will celebrate the Year of the Horse on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m., at the museum, 10 Vernon St., Brattleboro, Vt. This free event organized by the Asian Cultural Center of Vermont will have activities for all ages, including a paper lantern-making, Chinese songs, Korean rope tug, tai chi, a Vietnamese dragon dance and more.
