Nova Arts announces the lineup for their annual music festival, The Thing in the Spring, on Friday, Jan. 30, kicking off at 7 p.m. with an announcement party and fundraiser at Nova Arts, 48 Emerald St., Keene. Dance away the night from 7 to 10 p.m. and enjoy giveaways, food, advanced tickets for sale, new poster designs and handbills. This is an all-ages fundraiser, and all funds will go toward the 2026 Thing in the Spring on May 15, 16 and 17. Admission is pay what you can. Step into the limelight and compete in Madame Sherri's Lip Sync Battle on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. Bring the drama and dance movies—no live singing required. The friendly competition is open to everyone over 18 and is free to enter and attend. Sign up to perform online at www.madamesherris.com/lipsync. Join the Moonlight Owl Prowl hike through Tetreault Park with the Rindge Conservation Commission on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at 7 p.m. The hike will start at the parking area located on Rand Road and is free and open to the public. Participants will be on the lookout throughout the hike for birds hunting after dark, especially Great-Horned and Barred owls. David Drouin, chair of the commission, will lead the hike along the well-defined trails. Tetrault Park is located on Rand Road. The parking lot is on the left after about a mile. On Sunday, Feb. 1, celebrate midwinter with a warm gathering of poetry, music and storytelling at "Endless Butter: A Communal Feast of Poetry and Music" at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill, Putney, Vt. Six musicians, one storyteller and over 10 poets will share their art. Tea and coffee will be provided and attendees are encouraged to bring treats, knitting or whatever brings you comfort. Admission is a suggested $10 to $20 donation. Students are free. MAXT Makerspace will offer a block printing workshop on Monday, Feb. 2, where participants will learn the art of relief printing using linoleum or rubber blocks. Carve intricate designs, ink your creations and press them onto paper to produce stunning greeting cards. Enrollment is $50 and can be purchased online at www.maxtmakerspace.org. The Makerspace is located at 50 Jaffrey Rd., Peterborough.
