Is it a Find!?

Dear Dan, I purchased this object from a flea market in the '70s. I have always found it to be very appealing and have it hung in my living room. It is about eight inches high and looks like it may have been used for an electric doorbell or buzzer. Could you please tell me anything you may know about it and possibly what it is worth? Thank you, Samantha Greetings Samantha, What an amazing doorbell you have. It was likely made in the early 1900s in France. It completely epitomizes the styling of the Art Nouveau period. The Art Nouveau era (1890 to 1910) started in France. Its styling is represented by elegant curves that are displayed in an organic flowing nature accentuated by a draping finish. Objects such as pretty women, dragonflies, pulpit flowers, lilies and peacocks are often incorporated into the design. Personally, I find it to be the most appealing era of design. I could see your doorbell selling for $300 to $400 to a collector. It looks to be composed of a pewter with a wooden base and a blue glass buzzer.
