You can buy them online, or DIY your own using frames and cheesecloth or window screen material. There are plenty of easy tutorials out there if you want to go the homemade route.A blender (dedicated for crafting only!)Once a blender is used for paper making, it shouldn't be used for food again. A thrift-store blender works great, or maybe yours is ready for retirement anyway.A large tub or binThis will hold the paper slurry and water. Make sure it's big enough to fit your paper screens comfortably. Paper to recyclePrinter paper, paper bags, construction paper, tissue paper — pretty much anything goes. This is a great opportunity to reuse paper that would otherwise head to the recycling bin.Cloth strips or old towelsThese are used for drying. Old sheets or towels work perfectly.SpongesYou'll use these to press out excess water once the paper is formed.Seeds and dried flowersWildflower seeds work best since they don't require specific spacing. Dried flowers are optional, but they add a pretty touch. How to Make Seed Paper Blend the paperTear your paper into small pieces and add them to the blender with about two cups of water. Blend until it looks like a smooth pulp. If it's too thick, add a little more water.Create the slurryPour the blended paper into your tub, then add the wildflower seeds. Add more water so everything mixes easily. Tip: You may need to repeat this process a couple of times depending on the size of your blender and how much paper you want to make. Form the paperPlace your screen and frame into the slurry and gently move it around so the paper and seeds settle evenly on the screen. Lift it out and let the excess water drain back into the tub.Add dried flowers (optional)If you're using dried flowers, sprinkle them on top of the paper now, while it's still wet.Transfer to dryRemove the top frame to reveal the paper shape, then carefully flip the screen onto your drying cloth or towels.Press out the waterUse sponges to gently press down, helping transfer the paper to the cloth and soak up excess water. The paper may spread slightly — this is totally normal.Remove the screenCarefully lift the screen away, making sure not to tear the paper.Let it dryAllow the paper to dry for 12 to 24 hours. Drying time will depend on the humidity in your home.Finish it upOnce dry, gently peel the paper from the cloth and cut it into your desired shapes and sizes — hearts are a classic Valentine's Day favorite.
