Internationally Touring African Children's Choir to Perform in Winchester

The African Children's Choir, renowned for its vibrant performances and inspiring mission, will be making a stop in Winchester as part of its extensive international tour. The Choir will perform at Grace Christian Fellowship Church on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. Now in its 41st year, the African Children's Choir operates out of Uganda and travels across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Their goal is to raise funds to provide quality education for vulnerable children across Africa. The Choir is part of Music for Life, a larger Christian organization that equips thousands of children with education, discipleship and leadership skills, helping them rise above difficult circumstances and realize their potential. The performances, while entertaining and full of energy, are deeply rooted in a mission of hope, healing and transformation. As they visit more than 100 cities on this current tour, the Choir is sharing its message through a unique blend of traditional hymns, African cultural music and joyful storytelling. Composed of children between the ages of 8 and 10, the African Children's Choir is made up of young voices from some of the most vulnerable communities in Africa. Despite facing significant hardships — often including poverty, loss and lack of access to education — these children bring a message of resilience and joy. "This tour is about more than music," said Daniel Tamale, the Choir's current tour leader. "We are looking forward to this. It's always exciting to see and meet new people and get to know people personally. We are calling upon everyone. They are not only going to have fun and enjoy the show, we preach the gospel through the hymns and testimonies and they will be glad that they came." Tamale himself is a product of the Choir's mission. He first joined the African Children's Choir during a Canadian tour as a child. After graduating in Uganda in 2003, he began volunteering with the organization and has remained involved ever since. This year marks his first time leading a tour, and he's already three weeks into the journey. "I am who I am because the choir gave me the opportunity to come to the US and Canada and show people that there's a lot of potential in the African child," Tamale added. The concerts offer something for everyone — uplifting music, moving testimonies and a glimpse into the lives and dreams of the children. But beyond the performance, each event is a chance for local communities to support a cause that is transforming lives across a continent. The choir does not charge for admission, ensuring that as many people as possible can attend.
