Is it a Find!?

Hi Dan, At the local recycle shed, in with the books, I found this small booklet written in 1779. It has 15 pages each with two lines of scripted saying. The front page indicates that it was for use in schools. Does it have any value? Sincerely, Pat H. Hello Pat, It is amazing what can be found at the recycle shed. I too have found some interesting items there over the years. Your book was used as a guide for school children to copy and emulate scripted text. Penmanship was considered one of the most important skills to be taught in education at that time. This skill obviously has waned over the years, as typewriters and then computers increased in popularity. In today's world, I find it interesting that many of the younger people I know can't read or write in cursive. While 1779 may seem old in the world of antiques in the United States. In England however, it is not the case. It is not uncommon for their "antiques" to date from as early as the 15th Century. If your book was published in America it would be worth significantly more.
