Parades, Fireworks and Drones: Fourth of July Celebrations Around the Region

Get ready to don your red, white, and blue — Independence Day is right around the corner, and the Monadnock Region is bursting with ways to celebrate! From road races and live music to delicious local eats, kids' games, patriotic readings and, of course, amazing fireworks lighting up the summer sky, there's something for everyone to enjoy. As we gather with neighbors and friends, these celebrations honor the spirit of July 4th — a day that marks the birth of our nation, when the Declaration of Independence boldly proclaimed the ideals of freedom, unity and self-governance. So, whether you're racing at dawn or cheering at dusk, come join in the festivities that make this holiday shine! Below is a list of festivities in the region: Antrim: Antrim Historical Society will host a July 4 Celebration with a reading of the Declaration of Independence at Memorial Park Bandstand on Friday, July 4 from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with free coffee and donuts. Brattleboro: On Friday, July 4, bike decorating, Red Clover Firecracker 4.0 race and a parade will be held downtown beginning at 9 a.m. Starting at 11:30 a.m., Living Memorial Park will host food vendors, a baseball game, swim races, performances and more, culminating in fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Dublin: The Dublin Lake Club is sponsoring an Independence Day Firework display at Dublin Lake on Wednesday, July 2 at 9 p.m. Harrisville: The Harrisville Independence Day Celebrations will be held on Sunday, July 20 bringing their Old Home Days to a close. The Fire Department will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks beginning at 5:30 p.m., music begins at 7 p.m. Old Home Days will be held July 18 through 19. Hinsdale: There will be a Third of July celebration beginning at 5 p.m. at Heritage Park which will include games, music, food vendors and fireworks. $5 parking will support the senior class. Jaffrey: The Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Jaffrey Center Meeting House, 15 Laban Ainsworth Way, will take place, rain or shine, beginning at noon on July 4. Keene: The 23rd Annual 4 on the 4th Road Race will be held at Railroad Square on Main Street, on Friday, July 4, with walkers starting at 7:30 a.m. and runners at 8 a.m. Additionally, The Keene SwampBats will host their Independence Eve celebration on July 3rd at Alumni Field with fireworks to start after the game. Monadnock Peer Support will also celebrate a day early with a celebratory barbecue on July 3rd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Vernon Street in Keene. Peterborough: The Monadnock Center for History and Culture welcomes the community to mark Fourth of July with its 98th Annual Independence Day Ceremony. The ceremony takes place on July 4 at 10 a.m. and includes the traditional flag raising, a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a short talk. This year's speaker is the Honorable Charles Bass, a native of Peterborough and former U.S. Congressman. Spofford: On Saturday, July 5, there will be a Drone Show followed by fireworks on Spofford Lake beginning at 9:15 p.m. Swanzey: The Mount Caesar Union Library will host its annual bell ringing tradition on July 4 at 11:30 a.m. at 628 Old Homestead Highway.
