Keene Goes Wild: Celebrating 30 Years of "Jumanji"

This summer, Keene, the original filming location of the 1995 cinematic classic, transforms into a real-life jungle playground to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of "Jumanji." Whether you're a die-hard fan or just discovering the magic for the first time, this is more than a party — it's an adventure. From June 20 through 22, the heart of downtown Keene will be pounding with jungle drums, wild activities and a stampede of nostalgia as locals and visitors alike gather for a weekend tribute to the movie that captured imaginations across generations. The celebration kicks off in epic style on Friday, June 20, with a special screening of "Jumanji," at the Colonial Theater on Main Street in Keene. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and you will want to get there early. There's a red-carpet photo opportunity, a special artifact reveal and a Q&A session with cast extras and VIPs, hosted in collaboration with the Historical Society of Cheshire County. And yes, there will be drummers — because what's "Jumanji" without a little rhythm and suspense? Expect to see exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with local extras who were part of the original production. It's a chance to step into the world of Alan Parrish, Sarah Whittle and that magical board game that started it all. On Saturday, June 21, the real adventure begins! Things kick off with the Rhino Rumble Road Race, starting at noon on Main Street. This isn't your typical 5K — you've got to wear an inflatable animal costume.
