Thank You Easter Bunny

The year was 1978 and the iconic M&Ms Easter commercial came out. How can you forget all the cute kiddos thanking the Easter Bunny while holding their M&Ms, and at the end saying, "Thank you Easter Bunny bock bock" — awesome memories! This year Easter falls pretty late in the season and hopefully more flowers will be up by then. Can you believe spring is finally here? Recently, I had a conversation about Easter with my good friend, David Ross. David is co-owner of Mood Chartreuse in Acton, Mass., which specializes in amazing vintage items such as Pyrex and Fiestaware. You may have even met David at Brimfield Market which he's been vending at for many years. Anyways, David was chuckling about his own Easter memories. He had recently lost his uncle, and the family got together to watch old 8mm silent home movies from the 1960s. And in these movies was himself and his brother dressed up in matching plaid vests and bowties that their mother had made for them when they were young. He also chuckled about seeing his sisters in "goofy, dorky" bonnets wearing gloves and dresses. Those were the days when you dressed up to go see your grandparents. I too remember our treks down to Boston every Easter to see Nana and the family, all dressed up. I was talking with my mom this morning about upcoming Easter plans and what she would like to do. She had a big smile and reminisced about my oldest son dressing up in a bunny costume when he was young and hopping up and down the Francestown Turnpike waving to the traffic. I highly doubt I could convince my now 25-year-old son to replicate that memory! However you celebrate Easter, I hope you enjoy time with friends and family. Eat lots of candy (just don't binge eat too many sweet Peeps!). Maybe it would also be fun to pull out the old photo albums or old home movies and reflect back on Easter Sundays of the past.
