"Dancing with the Keene Stars" Supports Invaluable Keene High Project Graduation Program

It's that time of year again when community members take a leap out of their comfort zone and step onto the stage at Keene State College's Redfern Arts Center for "Dancing with The Keene Stars," (DWTKS) an annual fundraiser for Keene High School Project Graduation. This year, dancers will compete for the three shows on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee show at 2 p.m. A twist on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," this show hinges on audience participation. Watch the first act as couples (made up of local community members) dance to pieces choreographed by Rich and Pam Clough, owners of Keene Fusion Studios. During intermission, you, the audience, must make the deciding votes to crown your top three couples of the night using the associated voting boxes for each couple. This year's "stars" include Christine Fleming, Kevin Royce, Tiffney Lindner, Josh May, Karin Royce, Adam Berube, Lori Black, JJ Conroy, Elsa Worth and Dan Lang. Along with this is the prestigious Judges' Award given to the couple they feel encompassed all the attributes of the evening to catch their hearts. The judging panel this year includes Tracey Pelkey, Mark Charlonne and Lori Werner. Move into the second act where past and present dancers perform in group dances to Neo-50s style music. It's a fun and fast-paced act of songs you are sure to recognize with a modern twist. Sonia Kibbee is a Keene High School Project Graduation board member and co-chairs DWTKS with Dave Ganio. Kibbee urged, "Don't forget that this is all to raise monies to put back into the coffer of Keene High School Project Graduation. We are a 501-c nonprofit organization and the funds we raise help us to celebrate graduating seniors by keeping them safe and totally occupied overnight after graduation. Statistics show that graduation night is one of the most dangerous nights of their lives and it's our goal to keep as many safe, having fun and celebrating their accomplishments by giving them this all-free night. Kibbee also said "Keene High School Project Graduation needs to get money back into their account to keep this great event of over 38 years going. If this does not happen this could seriously be the last year. This is the reality."
