Through a diverse array of activities—including sports, crafts, and outdoor adventures—campers build character and leadership skills that serve them well beyond the summer months.2025 Summer Camp OfferingsThis year, we are excited to present a variety of camp options tailored to meet the diverse interests and needs of our campers:Camp Wakonda: A classic day camp experience where children engage in a mix of activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, team sports, and nature exploration. Each day is structured to provide a balance of fun and educational opportunities, fostering a well-rounded experience.Gymnastics Camps: The Gymnastics Program at the Y offers three different camps, each with a different focus. There are options for those who are just beginning in the sport and for more experienced gymnasts interested in advancing their skills.Adventure Camp: Adventure Camp is perfect for kids who love the outdoors! Campers will be out and about each week, experiencing and exploring local hiking trails, mountains, beaches and more. Each day, weather permitting, we will be outside, active and often offsite on an adventure! Field trips may include activities such as zip lining, tubing, and hiking. For each outing, campers will be transported by bus from the Y.Specialty Camps: For campers with specific interests, we offer focused programs in areas like science and technology, art, and a choose-your-own-adventure style excursion camp. These camps provide in-depth exploration and hands-on learning, allowing children to dive deep into their passions.Sports Camps: Designed for the budding athlete, these camps concentrate on skill development in sports such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and ninja. Experienced coaches guide campers through drills, games, and teamwork exercises to enhance their abilities and love for the game.Commitment to SafetyThe well-being of our campers is our top priority. All YMCA staff undergo thorough reference and criminal background checks prior to employment. Our counselors are trained in team building, character development, conflict resolution, emergency procedures, and child abuse awareness and prevention.
