Reiki is an Eastern belief that refers to a Reiki master being able to offer healing with gentle touch using your body's natural life force (or Ki) by tapping into the universal life force of Rei. This combination sets the intention to guide the flow of healthy energy into the client's body. To reduce stress, promote healing and reduce symptoms of illness. There are hundreds of different of modalities of Reiki. I'm personally certified in three. I'm also a Tarot/Oracle reader, and enjoy offering healing messages through the cards. To do so, I use the symbolism of the cards and how they present themselves to tell a story. Doing this helps trigger a subconscious reaction. Tarot can be used to reflect, react and respond to situations in life and to identify blocks. Finally, I offer workshops such as "shadow journaling" which is a self reflection process. It's meant to help us explore hidden emotions, beliefs and experiences to gain a deeper understanding of self and aid in healing wounds from trauma. What do you enjoy most about your job? I love being able to make a difference in the community by offering healing and therein making a difference towards facilitating a high vibrational community. What is the most challenging aspect of your job? Like any small business that is just starting out, it's really difficult to break into the mainstream and make myself known so that I can create the impact that I really want to; and like most things in life, there are naysayers that refer to Reiki as a pseudoscientific practice based on metaphysical, rather than physiological concepts even though many hospitals across the U.S. offer Reiki to their patients. It is being used pre and postoperatively to reduce anxiety and accelerate healing. It is recommended for cardiac patients and to those with stress-related pathologies such as high blood pressure. What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a similar career? Get to know your demographic and join in local community groups. Building a relationship with your neighbors, fellow business owners and community is imperative. What is your favorite thing about working in the Monadnock Region? I absolutely love not only working but being a resident in the Monadnock Region because of how family friendly it is. There are always awesome events going on from the Snow & Ice Festival to Art Walk, Wizarding Week and so much more. It truly is a great place to be.
